OVERVIEW
Under this Call for Artists (“CFA”), the Library, Arts & Culture Department (“Library”) of the City of Glendale (“City”)— on behalf of the City’s Arts & Culture Commission (“ACC”)— is accepting proposals from qualified candidates who would like to submit proposals for Armenian Genocide Remembrance Month – Call for Artists.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The Library and the ACC are committed to developing programming that amplifies cultural voices through a lens of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI). The immense impact of the recent attacks in Artsakh / Nagorno-Karabakh have been classified as a state of emergency amid Azerbaijan’s campaign in the region. These events which magnify the on-going effects of the Armenian Genocide of 1915 shed light on the systemic racism towards Armenian people. The ACC will open a series of Calls for Artists focused on amplifying cultural voices which aims to bring visibility to this crisis, and to affirm the survival and endurance of Armenia and its peoples. This inaugural Armenian Genocide Remembrance Month - Call for Artists focuses on magnifying Armenian artists and the Armenian experience.
The proposed artwork may be visual, musical, performance-based, social, experiential, environmental, sensory, streetscape/mural art — all delivery methods will be considered. The artwork may be a one-time event or a temporary installation, or it may be a series of events or installations.
Individual project budgets up to $10,000 per project will be considered, with the expectation that higher cost projects could be longer lasting, larger in scope and/or have a further reaching impact. A total allocation of $20,000 has been budgeted for the entire Armenian Genocide Remembrance Month – Call for Artists.
