Guidelines & Eligibility

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The City's Library, Arts & Culture Department (LAC) and CSP along with the Arts and Culture Commission, encourage the expansion of arts and cultural activities to benefit the citizens of our community and to provide local artists with new opportunities to participate in Glendale’s cultural life.   

ELIGIBILITY

Artists or art organizations, or schools can submit proposals to temporarily display art in the ASMPGS. Local and regional artists are invited to apply. Some preference may be given to local artists if all other factors are equal. City of Glendale employees are not eligible to apply.

Interested artists, art organizations, collectors, or any other lender must prepare and submit an application using the online form at the bottom of this web page. Alternatively, the same information can be submitted via mail or in person

ACCEPTABLE MEDIA

Visual and installation art of any media and size will be considered for display, including but not limited to: paintings, photography, sculptures, crafts, graphic arts, animation, mixed media, mosaics, stained glass and other forms of artistic expression for civic, cultural, educational, recreational and intellectual purposes.

SELECTION PROCESS

Submissions will be reviewed by a selection committee, Art in Public Parks Committee (APPC) consisting of an Arts and Culture Commissioner and City of Glendale representatives.

NOTIFICATION

Selected finalists will be notified by mail and/or email.  If the proposal is approved for exhibition, the applicant must sign an LAC Temporary Art Display Agreement (contract) that states the duration and location of display, describes other terms and conditions, and releases the City of any and all liability in the event of damage, loss, vandalism, or theft. 

INSTALLATION

The Exhibitor must contact LAC staff in order to schedule an appointment for installation and de-installation of the exhibit. The Exhibitor will be responsible for installing his/her artwork(s) with LAC staff guidance during regular business hours at all facilities.

MARKETING / PUBLICITY

The artwork will be exhibited on the City web site, social media, and Glendale government television GTV6, and more regionally with press releases and postings on GlendaleArts.org. By submitting a proposal, the Exhibitor irrevocably grants City, its officers, agents, and employees (“City and its representatives”) the unconditional right and permission to photograph, record (audio, or video, or both), broadcast, distribute, reproduce, copy, sell, exhibit, publish, and use the photographs and recordings of the artwork, in whole or in part, in any medium now or later developed, for any purpose, without charge to the City and without payment to the Exhibitor of any compensation, fee, royalty, or damages (now or later).
