The goal of the Spotlight Series is to highlight artists and arts organizations in Glendale. Listen to the interviews below to learn about an artist's practice or the mission and history of an arts organization. Interviews are held on a quarterly basis inside Glendale Central Library's Sound Space.

A. Laura Brody is the founder and curator of Opulent Mobility, an international exhibit that focuses on underscoring disability in all its forms and is the artist behind the upcoming exhibit at the Adams Square Mini Park Gas Station titled Phoenix Rising, on view January 12 - March 20, 2026. Phoenix Rising is created from discarded, unwanted clothing donations leftover from the LA wildfires to symbolize a rebirth through fire, akin to a newborn phoenix. Martial Arts History Museum

The Martial Arts History Museum serves as the only museum dedicated to keeping the history of the martial arts alive. The mission of the Martial Arts History Museum is to promote an appreciation of America’s cultural diversity by using the martial arts as its gateway into sharing how Asian history became part of American history. Mandy Palasik

Mandy Palasik installed Soft Surrealism at the Adams Square Mini Park Gas Station from March 3 - April 18, 2025. Soft Surrealism was an abstract sculpture composed of biomorphic inflatables that magnetically connect to form amoeba-like creations. Mandy Palasik Studio is a design practice based in Los Angeles that lies at the confluence of art, architecture, and community.​ Listen to Palasik share her background in architecture, challenges in her career as an artist, and her goals for having Soft Surrealism at the gas station.
