BEYOND THE BOX - MURAL ART PROGRAM
OVERVIEW
The Beyond The Box - Mural Art Program is a utility box mural project supported by the City of Glendale and the Glendale Arts and Culture Commission, with funding from the Urban Art Program. There are currently over 100 painted utility box murals in Glendale. Calls for artists for Glendale utility box murals go out once a year.

CALL FOR ARTISTS
The Library and the Art and Culture Commission have designed the Beyond the Box – Utility Box Art Program to enhance the aesthetics of the city, promote civic pride, increase pedestrian traffic, and extend public art to new areas and unexpected places while creating an attractive environment and allowing art to be introduced to the public in a creative and inventive way. The program's goal is to bring beauty to unexpected places such as public infrastructure and utility boxes.
The theme of this year’s Beyond the Box – Utility Box Art Program is Celebrating People with Disabilities.
This Call For Artists is for a Beyond The Box – Utility Box Art Program 2022 is open from June 27th to August 5th. The mural painting event will take place from October 21 – 23. 2022, with selected utility boxes throughout various locations in Glendale.
